Giant Schnauzers - Dogs - Appearance
Giant Schnauzers are strongly built, sturdy dogs that are squarish in proportion of body length to height at the withers. The substantial body gives an impression of power and agility. The back is short and straight. The head is somewhat elongated. The muzzle is strong. The neck is well arched. When the ears are uncropped, they are set high and carried close to the head. When cropped, they are in balance with the head and carried perpendicularly at the inner edges. The deep-set eyes are dark brown.

The Giant Schnauzer's coat is hard and wiry. It consists of a soft undercoat and a harsh outercoat. The hair on the top of the head is coarse. Together with harsh beard and eyebrows, it forms the breed's distinctive features. Solid black or pepper and salt are the dog's coat colors. A small white spot on the chest is permissible.
Height: Dogs measure 26-28 inches and bitches - 23-26 inches.
Weight: Males weigh 60-80 pounds, while bitches weigh 55-75 pounds.
Life Span: about 12-15 years
Giant Schnauzers - Dogs - Temperament
Giant Schnauzers are intelligent dogs that are reliable, and spirited. The breed is a devoted companion and a faithful family friend. However, the Giant Schnauzer tends to be dominant with other dogs. If properly socialized as puppies, Giant Schnauzers do well with other pets and children in the family.
